Here we explain what information we collect about you as a registered user of our services, and what we do with that information.
Who are you?
We are Edgefolio UK Limited. We are a UK company based in London (and registered under company number 09721556).
What information does Edgefolio obtain about me?
Normally, we obtain information about you in the following ways:

when you register to use our services, you provide us with your business contact details and basic job information;

when you use our services, we track what you do on our site (including all the pages and documents that you click on) and the times when you do this. We also collect the IP address and the type of device and browser which you use to access our services;

If you contact us for any reason, your communications may provide us with additional information about yourself (even if we haven't ask for this information).
What does Edgefolio do with my information, and what is the legal basis for this?
We are required by law to identify the legal basis on which we use your information.

Providing your information to funds If you are an investor and you ask to 'connect' with a fund within Edgefolio, then your business contact details and basic job information will be provided to that fund. If the fund accepts your request to 'connect', the fund will also be able to see what you do (and what you have previously done) while you are on pages relating to that fund. |
Consent. You can use Edgefolio without connecting to any funds. The purpose of connecting is to give you access to a fund's additional documents. The funds require your business contact details and basic job information in order to decide what documents (if any) they are willing to provide to you. You may withdraw your consent at any time. After your withdrawal has been implemented, the fund will not be able to see your subsequent activity on the pages relating to that fund. But everything before that time will still be available to the fund. |
Managing your user account We use your business contact details for the normal administration of your user account (including informing you of maintenance periods, or changes to the service or the terms of use). |
Legitimate interests. We have a legitimate interest in operating our services, and managing their use by the registered users. It is necessary to use your business contact details in order to identify you as a registered user and communicate service information to you. |
Addressing issues raised by you We may use information which you provide in communications with us in to order to address issues which you have raised. |
Consent. In providing us with information about you, you are consenting to us using this information in connection with the issues you have raised. You may withdraw your consent at any time. We will then cease to make any further use of this information. |
Marketing Where you are a registered user, we may send you the occasional newsletter with updates about our services. |
Legitimate interests. We have a legitimate interest in providing marketing material to individuals who are registered to use our services. You can always opt out of receiving future marketing materials from us. Each communication will provide you with a simple means to do so, or you can contact us directly. |
Does Edgefolio share my information with anyone else?
Generally, no. But, if you are an investor (or on the staff of an investor), the table above describes the circumstances in which your information will be shared with funds listed on Edgefolio.
Like any modern business, we use the data storage and data transmission facilities of various IT and telecommunication companies. These service providers are required to keep your personal data confidential and secure, and they are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
We might also be obliged to disclose your information by law or under a court order, or as part of an investigation by the police or financial regulators.
If we sell our business, then your information will be transferred to the new owner to enable the continuation of the business.
Does Edgefolio transfer my information outside Europe?
Generally, no. But, if you are an investor (or on the staff of an investor), the table above describes the circumstances in which your information will be shared with funds listed on Edgefolio. Some of these funds might be based outside of the European Economic Area, and in countries which have less rigorous data protection laws. You are not obliged to connect with any fund. You will need to decide whether you are willing to provide your information to funds based in other parts of the world.
The legal basis for any transfers outside the European Economic Area to a 'connected' fund will be your consent. Once your information has been transferred to a fund, we will not be able to make the fund erase your information or stop using it. You will need to deal directly with the fund in respect of their use of your information.
How long does Edgefolio retain my information?
We do not keep your information forever. Our normal timetable for deleting your information is as follows:

You remain a registered user, but have stopped using our services. | Within 5 years, we will delete your business contact details, your basic job information, and what you have done on our site. We will send you a notice shortly before this happens. |
Your user account is terminated. | Within 5 years, we will delete your business contact details, your basic job information, and what you have done on our site. But we might block your business email account from being used to register a new user account where we have terminated your account for breach of our terms. |
You have contacted us to address an issue. | Within 18 months of the issue being resolved or relevant communications having ended, we will delete the communications and any additional information which you have provided. |
What rights do I have in respect of my information?
You have a number of legal rights:

you can ask us to give you a copy of your information, and to provide further details about our use of your information

you can ask us to correct any inaccuracies in your information

you can ask us to erase your information or to restrict our use of your information

you can object to our use of your information due to your particular circumstances.
Please note that some of these rights might be subject to limitations or exceptions.
What if I have a complaint?

You can also complain about our use of your information to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office - this applies wherever you are based. If you are based in another country of the European Union, you also have the option of complaining to the data protection authority in your country.
